service hours and fees

Once approved, carers are permitted to care for up to 7 children under the age of 12  (including their own) at a time.

Carers set their own fees and days/ hours of service.

For example, morning care is 7am - 9am and afternoon care 3:30pm - 6:30pm.

A carer could charge $18 for the morning and $27 for the afternoon.

Note: Families cannot currently claim the Child Care Rebate or Child Care Benefit for home based care.

View a table showing a carer's potential gross weekly income based on a daily service fee (morning and afternoon care totally 5 hours) of $45 per child.

Use this table to estimate a carer's break even point. i.e. how soon after commencing care they will recover their start-up costs.
E.g. $1000 of start-up expenses could be recovered in just two weeks if caring for 4 children, before and after school, three times per week.
